17 Jun Supporting Young People Through Vocational Pathways
There’s been a noticeable increase in the number of young people engaging in Vocational Education and Training (VET) while at school, and that’s good news for students, schools, and employers alike.
At VicLLENs, we know that VET in schools is a powerful way to help young people build skills, confidence, and a clearer sense of direction for their future careers. As experts in vocational pathways, the 31 Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) across Victoria are dedicated to helping schools and local employers connect, creating real opportunities for young people to gain hands-on experience while completing their education.
One of the most effective ways students can explore vocational options is through structured work placements. Work placements sit at the heart of what LLENs do, providing students with valuable exposure to different industries, workplaces, and career possibilities. They allow students to “try on” a job, helping them make more informed decisions about their futures.
Not every young person knows exactly what they want to do after school, and that’s okay. Work placements help bridge that gap by offering insight, building skills, and expanding networks. They are also a fantastic way for local employers to play a meaningful role in developing their future workforce.
VicLLENs are proud to support schools, students, and employers in navigating vocational pathways. Together, we can help every young person discover their strengths, explore options, and build a future they’re excited about.
